Thoughtful January: Small Comforts & Fresh Starts
Share
January often arrives more quietly than the months before it.
After the rush and sparkle of December, there’s something deeply comforting about slower days, familiar routines, and gently easing back into everyday life. It’s a month for small comforts, fresh starts, and checking in - with ourselves, and with the people we care about.
This year, I’ve been thinking a lot about reading more in 2026. I want to make space for my Kindle again - not just quick flicks between tasks, but intentional reading that slows me down, stretches my thinking, and offers fresh perspectives. If you’re hoping to read more this year too, I’d love to know what’s on your list (personally I’m a fan of true crime and thrillers)

The Power of a Simple Card in January
While January can feel quiet, it’s actually a lovely time to send a card. When it’s unexpected, a handwritten note can feel even more meaningful.
A January card doesn’t need a big occasion. It might be:
Handmade greetings cards are especially suited to these moments. There’s something reassuring about knowing an item has been carefully made, crocheted, and assembled by hand - slowly, intentionally, and with care.
My crochet heart cards were created with exactly this in mind. Each little heart is handmade and individually attached to the card, and with 16 colours to choose from, there’s something for everyone.
No two are quite the same. They’re designed to feel warm, thoughtful, and lasting - the kind of card someone might keep on a shelf or noticeboard long after January has passed.
